F1 Movie Screening Precedes Monaco Grand Prix
As excitement builds for the upcoming global release of F1 The Movie, Formula 1 drivers and their partners attended a private screening in Monaco ahead of the Grand Prix weekend. Highlights included notable arrivals like George Russell in an AMG ONE and Lewis Hamilton in a Ferrari Purosangue, while reigning champion Max Verstappen opted for a Twitch livestream from home.
Director Joseph Kosinski collaborates with Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, focusing on the journey of Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, who returns to assist a struggling Formula 1 team, APXGP. The film boasts scenes filmed during actual Grand Prix events, utilizing real F1 cars and teams, including a unique arrangement that provided the fictional team with access to a pit garage.
Kosinski emphasized the film’s authenticity, stating, "Every time you see Brad or Damson driving in this movie, they’re driving on their own in one of these real race cars on a real F1 track." This level of access was facilitated by key figures like Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes’ team principal, Toto Wolff, enhancing the film’s credibility.
F1 The Movie hits theaters on June 25 internationally, followed by releases in the United States and Canada on June 27. The collaboration between F1 and Hollywood reflects unprecedented synergy in presenting the sport to a broader audience.
