British Grand Prix to Feature Formula 1, F2, F3, and F4 Together for the First Time
In a landmark development for motorsports, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone will host Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, and non-championship British F4 races simultaneously from July 4-6, 2024. This historic event will mark the first appearance of the British F4 series as part of the Formula 1 weekend, a long-cherished goal for championship promoter Motorsport UK.
The British F4 will conduct two races during the weekend, each lasting 25 minutes plus an additional lap, slightly extending beyond the typical 20-minute race duration. Access to these races is limited to teams already registered in the British F4 series for the current season.
Eve Lake-Grange, championship manager, expressed gratitude for this opportunity: "This is a real milestone moment for everyone involved with the F4 British Championship certified by FIA. Competing on the support bill of Formula 1 at the British Grand Prix is something we’ve been working towards for a long time."
Lake-Grange reiterated the significance of this event for aspiring drivers: "We pride ourselves on being the first step on the pathway to Formula 1. For our drivers to witness their potential career roadmap while competing will be both special and inspiring."
The interest in this non-championship event has been exceptional, with projections indicating a competitive grid eager to perform on one of motorsports’ largest stages. The British GP will represent the second outing of British F4 on the Silverstone GP layout this year, following their participation in the C1 24 Hours earlier this month.
As preparations unfold, all eyes will be on Silverstone as motorsport fans anticipate an exhilarating showcase of talent across multiple racing tiers.
