George Russell Arrives at Silverstone in Mercedes AMG ONE Ahead of British Grand Prix
Silverstone, UK – George Russell, the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 driver, showcased his newly acquired £2.5 million Mercedes AMG ONE hypercar during the media day ahead of the British Grand Prix. The hypercar, boasting an impressive 1,049 horsepower from its 1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid V6 engine, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
Russell expressed his enthusiasm for the vehicle, stating, "So honored to own this car… it’s been a dream of mine ever since I joined Mercedes F1 back in 2017." He highlighted the car’s heritage, noting, “Crazy that the engine is a modified version from our 2015 F1 car – the first ever Mercedes F1 car I drove. What a beast!"
The AMG ONE marks a significant achievement for Mercedes, with only 275 units produced since its concept unveiling in 2017.
As Russell prepares for his home race, he joins fellow British drivers Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, Ollie Bearman, and Alex Albon. “It’s more than just a race,” he explained about the British Grand Prix, emphasizing its deeply rooted fan culture and overall festival atmosphere.
“This is one of the best-supported races… it’s a big festival, and the circuit does such an amazing job with activities for everyone," he added. Russell affirmed the importance of Silverstone on the F1 calendar, asserting, “Knowing that Silverstone stands firm is a really special feeling. It’s one of the best Grand Prix for us drivers and for fans.”
With the British Grand Prix approaching, anticipation builds as teams and drivers ready themselves for what promises to be an exhilarating weekend.
