Hungarian Grand Prix Prepares for a Transformation Ahead of 2025
The 40th edition of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, scheduled for August 1-3, 2025, will showcase significant renovations at the Hungaroring. Over the past year, extensive construction efforts have revitalized the circuit, particularly the paddock building and media center, which have been fundamentally rebuilt.
Zsolt Gyulay, CEO of Hungaroring, displayed pride during a press event highlighting the upgrades. “The goal was to replace the outdated infrastructure with a modern, efficiently operated pit building that meets all professional requirements of motorsport,” Gyulay stated. The facility now includes 40 garages—36 for teams and four for technical services—alongside a catering and VIP area, administrative offices, and a rooftop terrace. While the construction will not be fully completed until April 2026, significant exterior work has already been finalized.
Gyulay noted that portions of the new infrastructure remain unavailable for use as final touches are applied. Once operational, the paddock will serve not only motorsport events but also conferences and large gatherings.
Notably, two new tunnels have been introduced to enhance connectivity between the paddock and the redesigned grandstand, which accommodates 10,000 spectators and features modern commentator booths.
Adam Schmidt, Hungarian State Secretary for Sport, emphasized the historical significance of the track, stating it has become an integral part of Hungary’s identity and economy. The event has drawn impressive crowds, with 300,000 attendees over a recent race weekend, 80% of whom traveled from abroad. Schmidt revealed that the GDP generated from the Grand Prix exceeds 26 billion forints (approximately €64 million). He highlighted a favorable return on government investment, noting that each invested forint yields more than 1.5 times its value back to the economy.
The Hungarian Grand Prix recently extended its contract through 2032, contingent on completing modernization efforts that commenced in late 2023.
