Red Bull Contemplates Future Amid Driver Turmoil
Milton Keynes, UK – The recent upheaval within Red Bull Racing has sparked discussions regarding the implications for rookie driver Isack Hadjar. Analysts warn that aligning with the team may jeopardize his Formula 1 career prospects.
During a segment on Sky Sports F1, experts Simon Lazenby, Karun Chandhok, and David Croft dissected the ongoing situation at Red Bull, which has yet to secure a consistent partner for reigning four-time champion Max Verstappen. Following the departure of Sergio Perez at the end of 2024, rookie Liam Lawson joined Red Bull for the 2025 season but was replaced after just two races by Yuki Tsunoda, who has struggled to tap into the RB21’s potential.
Historically, Red Bull’s car design has favored Verstappen’s unique driving style, leaving many accomplished drivers from other teams unable to replicate his level of performance. With Verstappen accumulating 11 penalty points, he faces a potential race ban, raising questions about the team’s competitiveness without him.
"There is one driver who Racing Bulls think has a very similar style to Max Verstappen," Croft noted, contemplating Hadjar’s fit with the team. However, Lazenby cautioned that Hadjar should be wary of the pitfalls faced by his predecessors. “If I was Isack Hadjar, I would be running a mile from that at the moment. Why would you potentially destroy your career?” he stated.
Chandhok echoed this sentiment, suggesting Hadjar should consider other opportunities rather than join Red Bull: "I’d be trying to hang on to the Racing Bulls seat and then try and get myself a deal at Ferrari or Aston, or anywhere but Red Bull."
Despite these concerns, Croft pointed out that Hadjar’s driving style may offer him a smoother transition into the team’s framework. "If Isack Hadjar is the closest thing to Max Verstappen, then he has the easier task of adapting to that car which has been designed and developed more to Max’s liking."
As Red Bull grapples with its future and potential driver line-up, the consequences of their decisions will be closely scrutinized by both fans and analysts alike.
