CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz Acquires Stake in Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team
George Kurtz, the CEO and founder of CrowdStrike, has acquired a 15% minority interest in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team and will serve as a Technology Advisor. The investment is in the ownership entity led by Toto Wolff, who retains control over team governance while maintaining his executive roles.
Kurtz’s new role signifies a continuation of a partnership that began in 2019 when CrowdStrike joined as a technology partner. “Winning in racing and cybersecurity requires speed, precision, and innovation. Milliseconds matter. Execution counts. Data wins,” Kurtz stated. He emphasized the importance of technology in enhancing competitive advantage in motorsport.
Toto Wolff praised Kurtz’s diverse experience, highlighting his unique background as a racer, ambassador for Mercedes-AMG, and successful entrepreneur. “He understands both the demands of racing and the realities of building and scaling technology businesses,” Wolff noted, pointing to Kurtz’s insights as valuable for the team’s future in Formula 1.
Kurtz also brings a strong racing pedigree, with championships and wins in various series, particularly in LMP2 and GT classes, adding depth to his role within the team as they aim for continued success in the highly competitive motorsport landscape.
