Verstappen’s Aggressive Style in Focus Ahead of Canadian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen faces pivotal scrutiny following his controversial clash with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix, where he received a 10-second penalty and accumulated three penalty points, bringing his total to 11—just shy of a potential race ban. The reigning champion remains defiant ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, asserting, “Why should I?” when asked if he would adjust his aggressive driving style.
Lando Norris, who has long raced against Verstappen, provided insight into the latter’s mindset. Speaking in Montreal, Norris acknowledged Verstappen’s prowess, stating, “Max is one of the best in the world because of how he drives.” He emphasized that Verstappen’s style has been crucial to his success, suggesting that the incident at the Spanish GP was an anomaly rather than a consistent reflection of his behavior.
Norris articulated that he does not foresee any change in Verstappen’s approach, especially with the ongoing championship battle. “He’s further behind in the points. If anything, he’s still going to fight more…you can’t just try to think, ‘he’s going to give me more space’," said Norris, reinforcing that drivers must be prepared for Verstappen’s relentless competition.
As the teams prepare for the Canadian Grand Prix, Verstappen’s aggressive strategy remains a focal point, promising heightened tension on track as he vies for victory and a chance to improve his standings.
