Leclerc’s Struggles Continue Ahead of British Grand Prix Qualifying
In a disappointing qualifying session for the 2025 Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc will start from sixth position, a significant setback for the Ferrari driver who has yet to secure a pole position this season. Despite demonstrating strong pace throughout practice sessions and topping the final session, Leclerc’s qualifying effort fell short, finishing 0.229 seconds behind polesitter Max Verstappen and one spot below teammate Lewis Hamilton.
An animated Leclerc expressed his frustration, slamming his steering wheel upon crossing the finish line and rebroadcasting his disappointment over team radio. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck that. I am so fucking shit," he remarked.
In a post-qualifying interview, Leclerc reflected on his struggles, stating, "I am not doing the job. Since the beginning of the season, I’ve been performing very well in the races. Unfortunately, every time I go to Q3, it’s not clicking." He attributed his qualifying troubles to "very specific" issues with the Ferrari car, clarifying, "It’s not a balance issue; it’s not a grip issue…it’s something very weird."
Leclerc’s current standing as fifth in the championship leaves him focused on improving his qualifying performance. He acknowledged the challenge of starting behind leading competitors, stating, "Starting P6 again makes it so difficult… people that have had a clean race just have an advantage on us. We need to be better in qualifying."
With these insights, Leclerc aims to turn around the series of disappointing qualifying results and improve his standing in both the race and the championship moving forward.
