Lewis Hamilton Co-Chairs Met Gala Following Miami Grand Prix
New York City, NY – Lewis Hamilton made a striking appearance at the Met Gala as co-chair alongside Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams. This marks Hamilton’s debut in this prestigious role, contributing to the event’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme.
Donning an all-cream custom ensemble by Wales Bonner, Hamilton’s look included a tuxedo, bowtie, matching beret, and a brooch on his lapel, curated by stylist Eric McNeal. In a pre-event interview with Vogue, Hamilton expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s a real honour and privilege… getting to go to the Met Gala was always something really special.”
Hamilton’s involvement in the event is not new; in 2021, he made headlines by inviting emerging Black designers to showcase their work at the Gala. Reflecting on this, he noted, “I no longer wanted to just be another person in the room… I was going to buy the table myself.” He emphasized the importance of elevating underrepresented voices at such high-profile events.
Miami Grand Prix Recap
Following the Met Gala, Hamilton returned to competitive action at the Miami Grand Prix, where he experienced mixed results. Although he excelled in the sprint event, securing valuable points, qualifying proved challenging. Hamilton expressed a blend of satisfaction and frustration, indicating ongoing development needs for his team.
This juxtaposition of glamour and grit captures Hamilton’s multifaceted presence in both the motorsports arena and the broader cultural landscape, underscoring his role as a pivotal figure in advocating for diversity and representation in racing.
