Hamilton Climbs Back to Form at Emilia Romagna GP
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton showcased a remarkable recovery during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, finishing fourth after starting the race in 12th position. This performance marks a significant turnaround for Hamilton, who has faced challenges adjusting to his new Ferrari environment since securing a surprising pole-to-flag victory in Shanghai.
Despite his lower qualifying position, Hamilton capitalized on strong race pace and strategic decisions, aided by favorable safety car timings. “I felt a real synergy with the car today,” Hamilton stated, acknowledging improvements made during the race weekend. “The strategy was really fantastic today; they made great calls.”
Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc both struggled in qualifying, failing to advance to Q3, a trend that remains a concern for Ferrari. “We need to unlock the potential in qualifying. If we had qualified higher, we would have been fighting for a podium,” he noted.
The race took place in front of a record crowd, with 242,000 spectators attending over the weekend. Hamilton’s return to form resonates not only within the team but also with the fans, as he reflected on the emotional significance of racing for Ferrari at Imola. “It’s quite incredible to think that I’m now here in one of the two Ferraris,” he added, capturing the essence of his new journey in motorsport.
The Emilia Romagna GP serves as a turning point for Hamilton, setting a promising tone as the season progresses.
