Verstappen Confirms Commitment to Red Bull Amid 2025 Challenges
Max Verstappen has reiterated his intention to remain with Red Bull Racing through at least 2026, despite facing a challenging season with the 2025 car. The four-time Formula 1 world champion has expressed his commitment to the team that has seen him secure four consecutive titles from 2021 to 2024.
Verstappen, who joined Red Bull in 2016, has amassed 63 race victories with the team. However, the current season has proven difficult, with a competitive challenge from McLaren and a car that has not met his expectations. In an interview with De Telegraaf, he stated, “I did always say that to the team. That’s the intention, unless strange things happen. But that [a departure] is not my intention at the moment.”
While Verstappen’s remarks reaffirm his loyalty, speculation surrounds his future, with links to Aston Martin and potential interest from Mercedes. He emphasized that his focus is on improving his performance and that of the team. “The next few races are very important. Yes, also for my future,” he noted.
Verstappen also dismissed rumors of a sabbatical, confirming, “There is no question of that; my intention is to last in Formula 1 at least through 2028.” He acknowledged the pressures of the sport but expressed satisfaction with his team and the racing experience, despite not being pleased with a fourth-place finish in Miami.
As the team prepares for the upcoming race in Imola, Red Bull aims to enhance performance with new upgrades, addressing the gap to McLaren’s championship lead.
