Max Verstappen Anticipates Family Milestone as Miami Grand Prix Approaches
Max Verstappen’s private jet has been tracked departing Nice, France, en route to Miami, following the announcement that he will skip the media day ahead of the upcoming Grand Prix. The reigning Formula 1 World Champion is reportedly expecting the birth of his first child with partner Kelly Piquet, prompting his absence from Monday’s press engagements.
Red Bull Racing released a statement confirming Verstappen’s decision: “Max will not be attending media day in Miami as he is expecting a baby. All is well and he will attend the track tomorrow for the race weekend. We will not be offering any further comment at this time in respect of the privacy of Max and his family.”
The timing of his travel suggests that the couple may have welcomed their child, although no official announcement has been made. Piquet, who has a daughter from a previous relationship, has decorated their recent baby shower in pink, leading to speculation about the arrival of another girl.
Verstappen, known for his unwavering commitment to racing, reassured fans that his responsibilities as a parent will not alter his approach to the sport. “Honestly, I have done it already, so it is not like it is completely new for me. For me, you focus on your racing and then go back to your family,” he stated.
The driver emphasized he never considered taking time off for fatherhood. “No, I never considered taking a year out. It is not on my mind,” he affirmed, while also expressing hope that his child may choose a different path than racing. “If he or she wants to do it and I see that there is talent, I would support it. But I really hope not! No pressure, just live your life.”
As the Miami Grand Prix weekend unfolds, further updates regarding Verstappen’s family situation are anticipated, alongside his participation in this high-stakes race.
