Red Bull Racing Delays Driver Decisions Until Season’s End
Interlagos, Brazil – Red Bull Racing is set to postpone any decisions regarding its driver lineup until the conclusion of the 2023 season, amid uncertainties surrounding Yuki Tsunoda, Isack Hadjar, and Liam Lawson. Despite previous speculation about announcing changes before the São Paulo Grand Prix, sources indicate that no decision will be forthcoming, leaving the trio to leverage the remaining four races as an opportunity to solidify their positions.
Tsunoda acknowledged that his focus remains on maximizing his performance this season, which has limited his involvement in the development of the 2026 car compared to his teammate, Max Verstappen. “I have to maximize every race… I’m just fully focused now for the current year, 2025, and that’s it,” he stated, highlighting the urgency of his situation.
Isack Hadjar, a standout during his rookie season and a potential candidate to replace Tsunoda in 2026, expressed his familiarity with the uncertainty. “I never signed a contract or had something announced before the end of the season in my whole career,” Hadjar remarked. “I always had to keep my head down and keep pushing until the very final lap.”
If Hadjar secures a promotion, either Tsunoda or Lawson would likely shift to Racing Bulls, alongside F2 talent Arvid Lindblad. Lawson noted, “Decisions are all coming towards the end of this year… It’s obviously to perform,” underscoring the pressure on all drivers to achieve results.
Currently, the only other known vacancy for the 2024 season is at Alpine, where Franco Colapinto is expected to retain his seat. As the season unfolds, the focus remains firmly on performance as drivers vie for their futures.
