Jenson Button’s Wife Targeted in £250,000 Theft; Thief Sentenced
London, UK – Mourad Aid, responsible for the theft of luxury items valued at £250,000 from Brittny Button, the wife of former Formula 1 driver Jenson Button, has been sentenced to two years and four months in prison. This verdict was issued by Inner London Crown Court on Friday, following the incident on February 13, 2025.
The theft occurred at St Pancras International Station, where the couple was returning from Paris. As they disembarked from the Eurostar around 12:30 PM, Aid opportunistically took a suitcase while the Buttons were occupied with their chauffeur. The stolen suitcase contained valuables totaling an astonishing £383,037.92, including two Hermès Kelly bags worth approximately £70,000 and various antique jewelry items.
Detective Constable Michael Taylor, who oversaw the investigation, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating: “Aid acted brazenly and opportunistically to steal a suitcase from complete strangers, causing them considerable anxiety and worry over their belongings. I want to thank all the officers involved for their rapid response in identifying and arresting Aid.”
Following his imprisonment, Aid faces automatic deportation due to his illegal residency status in the UK.
In the aftermath of the incident, Brittny Button revealed her discomfort with returning to the UK, commenting, “It just feels so unsafe and doesn’t feel how it once was.” She recounted feelings of insecurity and chaos while in London and lamented the loss of irreplaceable family heirlooms.
The sentencing underscores the growing concerns regarding safety and security within high-profile circles, highlighting an ongoing issue that resonates beyond the realm of motorsports.
