Haas F1 Team Solidifies Future Amid Ownership Inquiries
As Haas F1 enters its tenth season, team principal Ayao Komatsu has confirmed that despite numerous proposals to acquire the team, owner Gene Haas remains resolute in his commitment to the organization. This announcement comes after Haas’ notable recovery in the last season, where it finished seventh in the constructors’ championship, earning 58 points, a significant rebound from the previous year’s disappointing 12-point tally.
Komatsu, who has been with Haas since its inception in 2016, noted the increasing engagement from Haas, particularly following his recent experiences at the Miami Grand Prix. "He’s so engaged now," said Komatsu. "He always wants us to improve, which is what we need from the owner."
Memorable developments include Haas driving the VF23—this initiative, according to Komatsu, has revitalized Haas’ connection with the team. "He’s always asking lots of technical questions… now he’s excited to drive at Goodwood," Komatsu added.
Despite speculation surrounding the team’s stability, Komatsu emphasized Haas’s disinterest in selling, countering ongoing inquiries. "He’s not interested. He really enjoys being the owner of the F1 team," said Komatsu. "In the last 18 months, he had numerous offers… he even got annoyed at times by persistent inquiries."
Haas’s tenure in Formula 1 has not been without challenges, particularly during the pandemic, but the team’s recent trajectory signals a promising future. The organization looks to build upon its previous successes as it maintains its position within the tight-knit world of Formula 1.
