Tsunoda Frustrated After Near Q3 Miss at British Grand Prix
Yuki Tsunoda’s qualifying session at the British Grand Prix ended in disappointment as he narrowly missed advancing to Q3, finishing P11 after Oliver Bearman’s grid penalty. Tsunoda expressed frustration over a power loss that he believes cost him critical time on track.
"I lost the power, to be honest," Tsunoda stated post-session. "I lost about a tenth in Turn 3… considering that, the lap was pretty good. Q3 was possible.”
This season has been challenging for Tsunoda, particularly with confidence in the Red Bull RB21. However, he noted that the Silverstone circuit felt more conducive to his progress. "The car felt good. Every time, there’s something I get in the last push… It’s really annoying," he added, reflecting on his recent string of performances and the weight of discussions surrounding his future with Red Bull.
Tsunoda’s prior race in Austria left him starting from P18 and finishing 16th amid four retirements. "At least I’m not starting P18… I’m looking forward to the race. It’s been a while since I scored points," he remarked, emphasizing the need to capitalize on any opportunity.
He acknowledged the team’s supportive efforts, stating, "The team gave massive support for me to gain that confidence back again… we made a couple of steps that I think I can do."
As he prepares for the race ahead, Tsunoda remains optimistic but realistic about the challenges he faces in securing a position in the points. "I know there’s something to come from the car as well… Let’s see," he concluded.
