Colin Queen: Racing Against the Odds in Lamborghini Super Trofeo
Sebring, FL — Twenty-year-old Colin Queen is breaking barriers in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series as the only active driver in professional motorsport living with a congenital heart defect (CHD). Despite undergoing three open-heart surgeries by the age of three, Queen has established himself as a formidable contender in sports car racing.
“I live with half a heart, as I like to say! But I am by no means half the athlete,” Queen stated confidently ahead of his first races at Sebring International Raceway.
From his early karting successes to his noteworthy performance in British single-seaters, Queen boasts a robust racing resume. In 2022, he secured second place in the BRSCC Formula Ford Championship and clinched multiple prestigious trophies, including the Triple Crown Championship. His accolades earned him a ₤20,000 scholarship to compete in the 2023 MSVR GB4 Series, where he finished fourth.
Transitioning from single-seaters to sports cars, Queen now drives for ANSA Motorsports. He expressed enthusiasm for this new chapter: “The transition has been quite different. The biggest change is slowing my mind down. It’s a heavy piece of machinery.”
Colin’s upcoming challenges include facing strong competitors like Wayne Taylor Racing’s Danny Formal and Hampus Eriksson. Yet, he remains optimistic about his future in GT racing: “I believe sports cars is the best way to build a career.”
In addition to his racing ambitions, Queen is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for CHD through his work as an ambassador for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the British Heart Foundation.
With two top-five finishes at Sebring under his belt, Queen aims for the podium at Laguna Seca this weekend. His drive and determination resonate in his motto: “Anything is possible, as long as you put your mind to it and work hard!”
