Report: Plessinger Battles Illness at RedBud National, Finishes Sixth Overall
Aaron Plessinger faced significant challenges during the RedBud National, concluding the first moto in a commendable sixth place before opting out of the second moto due to health concerns. The KTM rider’s performance allowed him to secure a 12th overall finish, marking his first outing outside the top ten this summer.
In post-race commentary, KTM highlighted Plessinger’s strong start with the sixth-fastest qualifying time, followed by a solid showing in Moto 1. Ultimately, as a precaution due to developing a fever, Plessinger and his team made the decision for him to sit out Moto 2, prioritizing his recovery process. He currently ranks fifth in the 450 Class AMA Pro Motocross Championship standings.
In an Instagram update, Plessinger revealed that he began to feel the effects of his illness about 20 minutes into the first moto, noting, “I’ve been dealing with a little bit of a sickness I kept telling myself wasn’t happening. Finally caught up to me.” He added, “My body was just kinda empty” after the race.
Looking ahead, Plessinger is committed to addressing his health issues and aims to compete in the upcoming Spring Creek National in Minnesota.
