Honda’s Hymas Faces Extended Recovery Following Dislocated Shoulder
Following a significant crash during the 250SX West main event, Chance Hymas has been diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder, raising concerns about his ability to compete in the upcoming races. The team issued a statement indicating that his recovery timeline likely precludes him from participating in the next three events.
Hymas was promptly treated at the Alpinestars Medical Unit, where his shoulder was relocated. An MRI conducted in Southern California confirmed the injury’s severity, although full details were still pending at the time of the release.
Team manager Lars Lindstrom lamented the situation, emphasizing the frustrations inherent in racing injuries: “It’s always extra frustrating when the riders are injured by something that wasn’t within their control. We are hoping that Chance’s injury is non-surgical, and that he’ll be able to get back to racing ASAP.”
While Hymas’ immediate future in racing remains uncertain, his performance thus far has been commendable, currently sitting seventh in the standings with finishes of 2nd, 6th, and 22nd across three rounds. The team remains focused on maximizing the potential of teammate Hunter, who has exceeded expectations this season.
As Honda navigates this setback, all eyes will be on recovery timelines and adjustments within their roster in the lead-up to the next rounds.
