Hymas Shows Promise Despite Ups and Downs at Fox Raceway
Fox Raceway, CA – Chance Hymas, the Honda HRC Progressive rider and recent AMA Supercross winner, demonstrated a mix of speed and resilience during the latest round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. After setting the fastest qualifying time by a notable 1.6 seconds, Hymas faced challenges in both motos but ultimately finished fourth overall with scores of 3-6.
In the first moto, Hymas was in strong contention for a podium spot before a crash derailed his lead. The 19-year-old acknowledged the setback but reflected on the day’s speed, stating, “I feel like I did pretty good damage control and will go again next weekend.” His adaptability was evident, particularly in the second moto, where he fought from a poor start position—potentially as far back as 25th.
“I had five or six laps in a row where I was fastest on track,” Hymas noted, underscoring his pace despite being mired in traffic. A near mishap just past the finish line with two laps remaining added to the tension, but he managed to secure enough points to maintain a solid standing in the championship.
After a thorough assessment of his bike setup, Hymas revealed, “I’ve been going back and forth between settings… one is a little too stiff, one is a little too soft. I was on the limit for sure,” admitting to struggles with handling.
Hymas remains focused on future events, determined to build on his momentum and close the gap to the podium spots as the season progresses.
