Sexton Struggles in Glendale Amidst Technical Adjustments
Chase Sexton’s promising start with the Monster Energy Kawasaki team has quickly hit a rough patch. Following his recent victory, Sexton faced challenges at the Glendale round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, finishing seventh in a performance marked by a poor start and limited recovery.
Qualifying fifth generally indicates Sexton’s speed; however, Saturday’s race did not align with that potential. His start issues compromised his ability to contend with front-runners, solidifying his position at fifth in the 450SX standings—17 points behind leader Hunter Lawrence.
Reflecting on his race, Sexton expressed frustration via Instagram:
“P7 in Glendale 🥴 rode the best I could last night, which is frustrating to be where I was. See ya in Seattle!”
In Kawasaki’s post-race press release, he noted, “Not the results I was looking for today. We had some positive moments… but my starts were holding me back… seventh was unfortunately all I had in me today, and I’m not satisfied with it. We’ll continue to test and build this week and look towards Seattle.”
Historically, Sexton’s tenure with new teams has seen an adjustment period, particularly during his first year with Red Bull KTM in 2024. As the series progresses, Seattle presents another opportunity for him to regain momentum.
