Nashville Supercross Report: Daxton Bennick’s Frustration After Incident with Seth Hammaker
Daxton Bennick faced a mix of frustration and continued resilience following the Nashville Supercross, where he finished fifth after a notable incident with Seth Hammaker. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider was engaged in a battle for second place when he went down, inadvertently collecting Hammaker in the process. Initially credited with a fifth-place finish, both Bennick and Devin Simonson were later elevated to fourth and third, respectively, due to Hammaker’s two-position penalty for cutting the track earlier in the event.
Bennick, who has secured three podiums in his three seasons of 250SX racing, expressed disappointment at missing out on another podium, stating, “I should have been back on the box tonight.”
In a post-race interview, Bennick acknowledged his competitive riding but criticized his reaction time after the crash, saying, “I’m pissed at myself because I got up slow and Simonson got me. That’s not acceptable.” He described the crash dynamics, noting, “His front wheel was on my head, so I couldn’t get unstuck.”
Reflecting on his overall performance this season, Bennick has consistently demonstrated strong riding skills, achieving significant finishes despite a setback in Detroit. “Every round’s been pretty good… I came around the first turn in 16th and got up to fifth at one point,” he explained, remaining optimistic about future events.
Bennick will look to bounce back in the upcoming rounds, determined to capitalize on his recent momentum.
