Adams Faces Setback at High Point Raceway After Injury
In a challenging outing at High Point Raceway, Drew Adams of Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki experienced a difficult day marred by crashes and an injury. Following a promising top-five finish in Colorado just a week prior, Adams entered the event with high expectations. However, he finished 16th in Moto 1 and encountered further misfortune in Moto 2.
During Moto 1, Adams started strong but was unable to capitalize, ultimately finishing in 16th place. The second moto presented a stronger start, with Adams advancing to 12th position before a series of crashes derailed his progress. A significant tip-over resulted in a fractured index finger on his left hand, forcing an early retirement from the race. Consequently, Adams ended the round with a disappointing 21st overall, recording finishes of 16th and 35th.
Kawasaki’s post-race statement highlighted the logistical challenges Adams faced: "A better start in Moto 2 for Adams helped him move into 12th, until a tip-over dropped him back to 16th. He then suffered another tip-over that left him with a fractured index finger and forced him to retire."
Reflecting on the day, Adams remarked, "I started off the day really well, qualifying fifth in both sessions. In Moto 1, I had a bad start and didn’t ride like myself. In Moto 2, I was moving forward until I had a little tip-over. After the second crash, I knew I had to get medical attention.”
Adams will undergo treatment for his injury, aiming for a swift recovery ahead of the upcoming Southwick round.
