Giuseppe Luongo Announces Retirement from Infront Moto Racing

Zug, Switzerland — In a significant shift for the motorsports community, Giuseppe Luongo has officially announced his retirement as President of Infront Moto Racing (IMR). His son, David Luongo, has been appointed to ensure a seamless transition and ongoing development of the MXGP.

Giuseppe Luongo, 65, has been a pivotal figure in the evolution of Motocross over his 42-year career as a promoter. His contributions include the organization of more than 800 events, the founding of multiple championships—including the FIM SuperMoto World Championship and the FIM Women’s World Championship—and innovations such as live television coverage and the MXGP-TV.com platform.

“Today is filled with emotions; it’s time for a new chapter,” Luongo stated, expressing both his passion for the sport and the bittersweet nature of his departure. He affirmed his commitment to remain involved as a supporter and mentor, emphasizing the importance of continuity under new leadership. “I am confident that David, Daniele Rizzi, and the Infront team will drive further innovation while respecting the sport’s integrity.”

Luongo’s tenure transformed the visibility of Motocross globally, enhancing spectator infrastructure and safety measures. His legacy is marked by fostering relationships with key riders, including legends like Eric Geboers and Stefan Everts.

Philippe Blatter, President & CEO of Infront, praised Luongo as a “true pioneer” whose efforts have made the MXGP a global phenomenon. Jorge Viegas, FIM President, echoed this sentiment, thanking Luongo for his unwavering dedication and remarkable contributions to the sport.
