Hymas Takes Moto Win Amid Deegan’s Consistent Performance

In a thrilling showdown at the latest motocross event, Hunter Hymas showcased his prowess by claiming victory in both motos. The second moto unfolded with Hymas maintaining his lead despite a late-race mistake from Haiden Deegan, who tipped over in the first turn with just a few laps remaining, allowing Hymas to secure the win without contention.

Despite the mishap, Deegan’s performance remained strong, finishing with a 2-2 score for the day. This result represented a strategic achievement, as it allowed him to widen his championship lead from 12 to 25 points over Jo Shimoda, who struggled, finishing with a 9-4 performance for fifth overall.

In the post-race press conference, Deegan expressed his frustration regarding his bike’s performance, stating, “I’m not sure what happened… They said at first, ‘It’s on you,’ then they’re like, ‘It’s not on you.’ I just lost all my power.” Despite the challenges, he noted the day was not without merit: “Honestly, it’s a consistent day, and I doubled my points gap.”

Deegan emphasized his focus on consistency as a key to championship success. “A lot of these guys threw away their first rounds, and that’s where I’m good: I’m just consistent. That’s why I win these championships. We’ll go back to work this week and hopefully come out on top next week.”

As the season progresses, both Hymas and Deegan reaffirm their statuses as serious contenders, with Deegan demonstrating remarkable maturity in navigating the challenges posed by competitors and machine performance alike.
