Haiden Deegan Withdraws from Motocross of Nations; Justin Cooper to Replace Him
Following a successful surgery to repair a broken collarbone, Haiden Deegan of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing returned to practice this week. However, despite logging laps, Deegan encountered significant pain when attempting to reach a competitive sprint pace, raising concerns about his ability to contribute effectively to Team USA’s performance.
In light of these challenges, the team has made the strategic decision to substitute Deegan with backup rider Justin Cooper for the upcoming Monster Energy Motocross of Nations. This move aims to ensure that Team USA fields the strongest possible lineup, with Cooper now set to pilot the YZ250F.
The decision underscores the team’s commitment to navigating the delicate balance between rider health and competitive performance as they prepare for the prestigious international event.
