Stage 10 Summary: Rally Action in Bisha
In a dramatic Stage 10 of the rally, Ricky Brabec (Monster Energy/Honda HRC) solidified his position in the overall standings despite a significant setback for teammate Tobias Sanders, who was forced to withdraw after a crash. Sanders’ accident occurred while maneuvering to avoid another competitor, with fellow teammate Tosha Schareina providing crucial assistance on the scene to ensure safety.
Following Sanders’ exit from contention, Schareina advanced to third place overall, now trailing Brabec by 15:43. Skyler Howes, also from Monster Energy/Honda HRC, maintained a secure fifth place, approximately 20 minutes behind Schareina.
Howes commented on the importance of Marathon stages, emphasizing a strategic approach: “I just managed my race, had my own plan. Adrien [Van Beveren] passed me going full gas, and I just let him go. I would consider this a really good stage.”
In the Rally2 category, American Preston Campbell continued his strong performance, finishing sixth overall in Stage 10 and preserving a 3:23 lead over KTM’s Toni Mulec. Campbell noted the challenge of navigating tricky terrain: “It was a long two days… today was all dunes, and really soft ones. Just had to push and do my best.”
Sara Price (Monster Energy/Defender) remains a standout in the Stock Car class, holding second place overall with navigator Sean Berriman. Price is notable for being the first American woman to win a Dakar stage outright, achieving this historic win in the 2024 SSV class.
