Farres Clinches MX2 Title, Prepares for 450cc Move
In a compelling 2026 season, Ferran Farres secured the MX2 championship, concluding his tenure in the class before transitioning to the MXGP division in 2027. Partnering with Camden McLellan on the Monster Energy Triumph Racing Team, both riders showcased impressive performances with McLellan taking fifth and Farres eighth in the championship standings.
During the season, McLellan achieved his inaugural MX2 overall victory at the MXGP of Andalucia, while both riders collectively accumulated 13 overall podiums across 19 rounds—McLellan with five wins and Farres leading with six, illustrating a fierce competition against the KTM riders, including 2025 champion Jett Längenfelder and Sacha Coenen.
As the season concluded, Farres, now 23, confirmed a new contract with Triumph to compete in the premier class, noting that he would age out of MX2 by the end of the year. With the MX2 title under his belt, he is set to join elite competitors like Jeffrey Herlings and Tim Gajser when the MXGP season commences in February 2027.
Meanwhile, McLellan is poised to defend his title aspirations in MX2, with potential to secure a second consecutive championship for Triumph.
