Lawrence Brothers Face Challenges in Wet Conditions at Triple Crown
Cleveland, OH – The much-anticipated Triple Crown event saw the Lawrence brothers, riding for Honda HRC Progressive, demonstrate their prowess, but also struggle with traction in challenging wet conditions.
Jack Lawrence opened the day strong, securing the top qualifying position. “In the first race, I had a good start and checked out,” he remarked, underscoring his initial dominance. However, issues emerged in the subsequent races. “I just didn’t get the best starts… it made things tough on myself. In the last race, I had a crash in the rutted whoop section, and then another rider hit my front wheel,” Lawrence explained, highlighting the impact of poor starts on race outcomes.
Team Manager Lars Lindstrom emphasized the need for improvement in wet weather starts. “We’ll make sure that we do our due diligence to improve our starts in wet weather, especially since it’s possible that the last three rounds could be mud races,” he noted, indicating a strategic pivot as the season progresses.
As it stands, Lawrence holds a narrow lead over competitor Ken Roczen, with just one point separating them. The slim margins heighten the stakes for upcoming races, particularly with potential adverse weather conditions on the horizon.
