Deegan and Lawrence Set for Premier Showdown in 2024

As champions in their respective classes, Haiden Deegan and Jett Lawrence are gearing up for a much-anticipated clash in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship next summer. Deegan, newly crowned two-time 250 Pro Motocross Champion, recently secured a multi-year agreement with Yamaha to transition to the 450 Class. This raises the prospect of a direct rivalry with Lawrence, currently a dominant force in the sport.

In a post-race press conference following the Budds Creek National, both riders shared their insights on the impending competition. When asked about the potential rivalry and their thoughts on racing each other, Lawrence expressed enthusiasm: "I’m looking forward to it. I’m always up for new challenges. When I get challenged, I feel like I ride better. It creates new motivation for me."

Lawrence noted the excitement from fans, comparing the rivalry to historic pairings in the sport. "People are trying to create that RC/James Stewart kind of thing, which is cool. It’s great for the sport."

Deegan echoed Lawrence’s sentiments, acknowledging the challenges ahead in the 450 Class. "I got a little work to do. Those guys are pretty gnarly. All I can do is work hard and eventually, I hope to be up there with the boys," he said.

With both athletes committed to their preparation, the motocross world will be keeping a close eye on Deegan and Lawrence as they head into the 2024 season.
