Honda HRC’s Jo Shimoda Diagnosed with Fibula Fracture After St. Louis Crash

TORRANCE, Calif. – Jo Shimoda, rider for Honda HRC Progressive, has been diagnosed with a small fracture of the left fibula following a crash during the AMA Supercross round in St. Louis. Although initial assessments at the event indicated no serious injury, subsequent imaging conducted in Clermont, Florida, confirmed the fracture.

According to Honda, the injury is non-displaced and will not require surgical intervention. Shimoda will be fitted with an orthopedic boot for a recovery period of two to three weeks. The reigning 250 SuperMotocross Champion is expected to return in time for the AMA Pro Motocross season opener at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, on May 30.

“Jo is a resilient competitor, and we’re confident he’ll make a full recovery,” stated Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing & Experiential at American Honda. He further emphasized the team’s commitment to supporting Shimoda during his rehabilitation to ensure he is ready to defend his title and compete at the highest level in the upcoming motocross season.

Shimoda’s absence marks a significant shift for Honda HRC Progressive in the remaining Supercross series, but the team is optimistic about his swift return to form.
