Shimoda Consistently Climbs to Podium as Deegan Steals Headlines
At the Hangtown Motocross Classic, Honda HRC Progressive’s Jo Shimoda delivered a steady performance, securing second place in both motos. While Haiden Deegan’s dominant 1-1-1-1 start has captured the spotlight, Shimoda’s consistent results are noteworthy, particularly given his qualifying position of 12th with a lap time of 1:58.8, compared to Deegan’s 1:56.5.
In the first moto, Shimoda navigated from a challenging ninth place at the start to finish in second. He improved further in the second moto, starting fifth and again rising to second by the checkered flag.
In a post-race release, Shimoda commented, “It was a good day, finishing second in both motos. I made some quick passes early on, but I still need to find a little more speed to really challenge for the win. Overall, we’re moving in the right direction. The goal is to keep consistency high and keep scoring good points.”
Shimoda’s performance marks a significant turnaround from previous seasons. Having previously struggled with strong openings, he kicked off the 2025 season with a win at Anaheim 1 in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, despite facing injuries after round two. If he maintains this trajectory, he could soon emerge as a serious contender for race wins as the outdoor season progresses.
