Weekend Recap: Jorge Prado Shows Promise Despite Crashes at The Wick 338

Southwick, MA—Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jorge Prado demonstrated significant improvement during qualifying and the early stages of both motos at The Wick 338 event over the weekend. Despite a pair of crashes, Prado managed to secure a fifth-place overall finish with results of 5-6.

In Moto 1, Prado started strong but collided with Eli Tomac, resulting in a crash that hindered his performance. He rebounded in Moto 2, running second until a mishap with a lapped rider caused another fall, ultimately leaving him to finish sixth.

"In comparison to previous weekends, it was better," Prado stated. "P5 is what we could do, but we are still far off from where I want to be. I pushed a lot, and that’s all I could do."

Regarding his second moto performance, Prado addressed the struggles that followed the crash with the lapped rider: "It took the wind out of me… It was hard to regroup, but I managed to catch up to Justin Cooper toward the end."

Despite working diligently with the Kawasaki team at ClubMX prior to the race, Prado remains aware of the gap in performance expectations. "I’m a sand rider, and I should be winning here. We have improvements to make; hopefully, we can get there," he added.

Communication with the team is solid, according to Prado, who expressed mutual frustration but is optimistic about future developments. "They are trying their best. I’m just waiting," he concluded.

As the season progresses, Prado’s resilience and commitment to improvement remain clear, setting the stage for potential future successes in upcoming events.
