Paturel’s Insights on MXGP Rivalries and Prado’s Performance
In a recent interview following the latest MXGP events, Benoit Paturel addressed questions about his racing experiences and challenges, particularly in relation to two-time MXGP Champion Jorge Prado. When asked how often he managed to overtake Prado, Paturel stated, “I think never in MXGP. We cannot forget the champion. It’s a unique time, also for us it’s a new format, the track is new, and for him it’s a new time.”
Despite his consistent performance this summer, Paturel acknowledged the dominance of Prado, emphasizing that the Spanish rider possesses capabilities beyond just race results. "I think he can do better," Paturel remarked. “But also the level in the U.S. is really fast. In Europe, he starts in front and can manage his win, but with Jett (Lawrence), Tomac, and others, you have champions that are extremely quick."
The upcoming Southwick National will be pivotal for Prado, as he seeks to adapt and reclaim his top position in this competitive environment. After a weekend off, the anticipation builds around whether Prado will turn the tide.
