Spring Creek National Recap: Justin Cooper Overcomes Adversity

Millville, MN – Justin Cooper faced a challenging day at the Spring Creek National, finishing with a 5-13 result after a crash during qualifying. Despite the setbacks, Cooper’s performance secured him the lead in the 450SMX SuperMotocross World Championship qualifying standings.

Entering the event, Cooper trailed his teammate Cooper Webb by 14 points. Webb, sidelined for the remainder of the Pro Motocross season due to a knee injury sustained at RedBud MX, provided Cooper with the opportunity to close the gap. After round 24, Cooper emerged with a 12-point advantage, signaling significant progress from being over 80 points behind Webb at the start of the season.

In his post-race statement, Cooper stated, “It was a tough day at Millville. I hit the deck pretty hard in the first qualifying session. My first moto wasn’t too bad, and we were able to hold on for fifth, but I was definitely hurting in Moto 2. I’m glad we got through the day. We’ve got one more before the summer break, so we’ll keep pushing.”

For deeper analysis on the SMX qualifying standings following the Spring Creek event, further updates will be available on Tuesday.
