GNCC Racing: Kailub Russell Returns with Victory at The Penton

MILLFIELD, Ohio (October 13, 2025) – The Progressive Grand National Cross Country (GNCC Racing) Series concluded its 12th round at the renowned Sunday Creek Raceway, with a remarkable performance from Kailub Russell, who claimed his first overall win since returning to competitive racing.

Competing in challenging conditions, characterized by a combination of fast fields, slick woods, and technical hills, the event lived up to its reputation, providing thrilling action throughout the race. Russell, an eight-time GNCC National Champion, secured his 68th career overall win, marking a triumphant return after coming out of retirement earlier this season.

Russell demonstrated strategic prowess and endurance, overtaking his teammate, Liam Draper, who held the lead position during the second and third laps. Draper finished just three seconds behind Russell, solidifying a 1-2 finish for AmPro Yamaha.

In the XC2 250 Pro class, Cody Barnes of Phoenix Racing Honda celebrated his first class win of the season, finishing third overall. Barnes initially dominated part of the race, but the XC1 front-runners surged ahead in the final laps, with only seconds separating the competitors at the finish line.

This event not only highlighted the depth of talent in the GNCC series but also set the stage for a dramatic conclusion to the 2025 season in the upcoming final round.
