Ultimate Hawaiian Hard Enduro: Round 2 of AMA National Hard Enduro Championship

Kauai, Hawaii – The second round of the AMA National Hard Enduro Championship, presented by IRC Tire, unfolded at the Ultimate Hawaiian Hard Enduro, hosted by the Garden Island Motorcycle Club. Set against the backdrop of Kauai’s rugged terrain, this year’s event was marked by unprecedented weather conditions, with consistent rainfall leading up to the race.

Over a week of heavy precipitation transformed the course into a challenging landscape, pushing riders to adapt their strategies in the steep, muddy jungle terrain. Previous iterations of the race have seen varying weather, with last year’s race notably dry. Competitors were eager to showcase their skills in the more familiar, slippery conditions that characterize off-road riding in Hawaii.

Kawelo Huddy, a local standout and previous two-time champion, faced intense pressure alongside teammates Kamakana Waiwaiole-Kahalepuna and Ryder Guest. The trio, representing Bullet Proof Designs KRD Hui, aimed to capitalize on their home advantage and an intimate understanding of the challenging environment.

The Garden Island Motorcycle Club, established in 1945, has a rich history of off-road racing and is famed for its ability to host some of the most demanding events in the sport. The Ultimate Hawaiian Hard Enduro continues to garner attention, not only for its unique challenges but also for its contribution to the local motorsport culture.

As the championship progresses, the focus shifts to the upcoming rounds, where riders will continue to battle both the elements and each other in their pursuit of the national title.
