Glendale Supercross Report: Lux Turner Shines Amid Challenges
In a promising display at the Glendale Supercross, Lux Turner, the Toyota Redlands BarX Yamaha rider, showcased his potential with a strong performance despite recent injuries. Turner secured the holeshot in the first 250SX heat race, leading initial laps before ultimately finishing third behind Maximus Vohland and Levi Kitchen. Teammate Parker Ross suffered a crash before the finish, hampering his chances.
Turner’s heat race performance marked a significant milestone as it was his first experience leading laps in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. Second-year pro Avery Long finished a commendable fourth, contributing to a competitive atmosphere.
Transitioning to the main event, Turner faced a tougher scenario, starting 17th on the holeshot line and dropping to 19th on the first lap. However, he demonstrated resilience, progressing to finish 11th, an encouraging outcome considering he recently recovered from a wrist injury sustained while leading the Australian Boost Mobile AusX Supercross Championship.
Reflecting on the race, Turner stated, “It definitely felt good to get a holeshot and lead some laps in the Heat Race… I was happy with my charge through the whole race. I’m getting stronger and feel like we made massive improvements this weekend that can continue each week.”
On social media, he elaborated further: “Super pumped to get that holeshot in the heat race… Frustrating to get a bad start in the main… but happy with the charge the whole moto. That was a great step in progress this weekend.”
As Turner continues to navigate his recovery and return to form, his determination remains evident, positioning him as a rider to watch in upcoming events.
