RJ Hampshire Out for Seattle SX and Subsequent Rounds Due to Injury
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing announced that rider RJ Hampshire will miss this weekend’s Seattle Supercross and upcoming rounds of the AMA Supercross Championship after suffering a foot injury in a training crash.
Hampshire, who previously withdrew from the Glendale round due to illness, fractured his foot while training at Baker’s Factory in Florida. This injury follows a challenging period, with Hampshire expressing frustration over his recent setbacks.
Team Manager Nathan Ramsey stated, “It’s never good to get a mid-morning phone call from Baker’s Factory on a ride day. Unfortunately, RJ had a crash where the handlebars caught his foot in just the wrong way, resulting in a fracture. Our focus now is on the best path forward to get RJ healthy and back racing as soon as possible.”
In his debut season in the 450SX class, Hampshire’s best finish so far is ninth place at Anaheim 2. Updates on his recovery will be provided as they become available.
Hampshire reflected on his injury via Instagram, noting, “I slid over this small jump and had a slow/awkward fall that caused me to plant my foot… Broke two of the metatarsals and one’s pretty displaced. I’ll rebuild and get where I know I can be.”
The loss of Hampshire represents a significant setback for both the rider and the team as they prepare for critical upcoming events in the season.
