250SX Results: Hammaker Reflects on Progress Despite Title Shortfall
In the ongoing 250SX series, rising star Hammaker has demonstrated substantial improvement, though he remains in pursuit of the championship title for the second consecutive year. Notably, in the 15 races this season, Hammaker is the only rider outside of Yamaha to secure a main event victory, triumphing at Daytona.
“I think speed-wise, I’m even better than last year. Fitness and endurance are strong, allowing me to compete without fatigue,” Hammaker stated. While he acknowledges occasional mistakes that have hindered his results, he remains optimistic. “My worst finish this year is a fifth, and I’m over 25 points ahead of my total from last season,” he added.
During the recent Philadelphia event, where Davies clinched the title, Hammaker maintained competitive form but identified a need for consistent victories. “Winning races is crucial. Everyone, including Tom [Vialle] and RJ [Hampshire], has faced setbacks, but Cole hasn’t faltered this season,” he remarked.
Reflecting on his home race, Hammaker expressed gratitude for the support from family and friends, noting the palpable energy from a familiar audience. “It’s great to race in Philadelphia, where I grew up. The support here fuels my performance,” he concluded.
As the season progresses, Hammaker’s growth and competitive spirit position him as a formidable contender, signaling exciting potential for future meetings.
