SMX Next World All-Stars Race Cancelled at zMAX Dragway Due to Weather

Concord, NC – The inaugural round of the SMX Playoffs for the Next World All-Stars was abruptly halted on Saturday at zMAX Dragway due to severe weather, specifically persistent lightning in the area. This decision significantly impacted the younger competitors in this emerging class, as they were poised for crucial performances in the championship format.

Originally, the SMX Next World All-Stars riders were slated to compete in a two-round championship, where the first round would award single points, and the second round would double those points. However, the inclement weather forced an early cancellation of the main event, as well as the second motos for the 250SMX and 450SMX classes.

According to the SuperMotocross League, qualifying for the SMX Next class was successfully completed earlier in the day. The league confirmed that the missed North Carolina race will be made up during the upcoming SMX Playoffs 2 event in St. Louis, Missouri, scheduled for September 12-13.

The format will see the main event on Friday counting as the lost race, awarding participants single points. Following this, a full reset will occur for Saturday’s race, where riders will qualify and compete for double points in the championship.

As stated in the league’s post-race recap, “The young racers will line up according to their Concord qualifying results…in St. Louis at The Dome at America’s Center.” This weekend promises to be pivotal as the series anticipates crowning the SMX Next World All-Stars Champion after Saturday’s conclusion.

Stay tuned for detailed schedules and updates as the competition resumes in St. Louis.
