Honda HRC Progressive Responds to Arlington Supercross Controversy
In a strong statement following the Arlington Supercross, Honda HRC Progressive criticized the AMA for its lack of penalties regarding incidents involving red cross flags and lights. The team highlighted the implications these decisions had on their performance and standings.
Despite impressive race results, including strong finishes from riders Hunter Lawrence and Jo Shimoda, the team’s frustration stemmed from perceived inconsistencies in the enforcement of rules. Team Manager Lars Lindstrom expressed disappointment, stating, “This was a huge morale boost for the team, but it was another bittersweet night. We believe penalties were warranted and should have affected our standing in the 250s, as well as expanded our 450 points lead.”
Senior management echoed Lindstrom’s sentiments, emphasizing that Honda has faced stricter penalties historically for similar infractions. The management’s resolve was clear: “We are absolutely infuriated that there wasn’t more done in this situation, especially given our past experiences. We will be fighting hard to have this decision overturned.”
As the season progresses, the team’s focus remains on achieving competitive results while seeking clarity and consistency in officiating rules.
