Hampshire Steps in for Sexton at 2025 Motocross of Nations
In a significant team shakeup, RJ Hampshire has been appointed to fill the vacant 450 slot for Team Rockstar Energy Husqvarna at the 2025 FIM Motocross of Nations, following Chase Sexton’s recent injury. The event is set to take place from October 3-5 in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Chase Sexton sustained injuries during an incident in Las Vegas, prompting his withdrawal from the highly-anticipated competition. Hampshire will join two-time champion Eli Tomac and Haiden Deegan, who, despite breaking his collarbone in a separate incident, is aiming to compete after undergoing surgery. In the event Deegan is unable to race, his teammate Justin Cooper will serve as a backup.
“The team is grateful to R.J. for stepping in at short notice,” stated Mike Pelletier, AMA Director of Racing. “His commitment and professionalism are commendable, and we are confident in his ability to represent the United States on home soil.”
Hampshire, a former AMA Supercross 250SX West champion and fifth-place finisher in the 450 class during the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross season, expressed his enthusiasm: “It’s an honor to race for this country. I’ll give it everything I’ve got.”
Tomac will compete in the MXGP class, while Deegan is set for the MX2 class. The U.S. aims to secure its 24th title in this prestigious event, having last triumphed in 2022.
