Hunter Lawrence Secures First 450 Class Victory; Deegan Dominates 250 Class at Ironman Raceway

Crawfordsville, Indiana – The 2025 Pro Motocross Championship resumed at Ironman Raceway for Race 9 amid sweltering weather and competitive tension. Hunter Lawrence of Honda HRC Progressive achieved a significant milestone by clinching his first victory in the 450 Class, demonstrating remarkable resilience in a tumultuous afternoon. In the 250 Class, Haiden Deegan of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing emphatically swept both motos, solidifying his grip on the championship lead.

In the first 450 Class moto, Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) captured the holeshot but quickly faced pressure from Hunter Lawrence. Early mishaps by defending champion Chase Sexton (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and points leader Jett Lawrence (Honda HRC Progressive) set the stage for intense competition. Jett Lawrence’s premature gate movement incurred a starting penalty, ultimately relegating him to 17th place.

Hunter Lawrence seized the lead 10 minutes into the race and maintained a growing advantage over Tomac. Behind them, Sexton and Jett Lawrence worked their way up through the pack, dramatically battling for positions. As the race concluded, Sexton claimed the first moto victory by 4.7 seconds over Hunter Lawrence, with Jett Lawrence finishing third. Jett’s penalty elevated RJ Hampshire to third and Tomac to fifth.

The second moto saw Tomac again grab the holeshot before Hunter Lawrence executed an aggressive pass for the lead. A spirited sibling duel ensued when Jett Lawrence moved ahead of Hunter, who later fell while running second. This incident allowed Jett Lawrence to extend his lead, ultimately winning the moto by 6.4 seconds with Hunter Lawrence finishing second and Tomac in third.

With this performance, Hunter Lawrence not only secured his inaugural 450 Class win but also began to solidify his presence in the championship landscape. Deegan’s continued dominance in the 250 Class highlights his trajectory toward defending his title as the season progresses. The next race in the series will undoubtedly intensify these championship battles as the Pro Motocross Championship continues.
