Seattle SX: Tough Race for Kawasaki Riders Marchbanks and Sexton

Seattle, WA – The Monster Energy Kawasaki team faced significant challenges during the Seattle round of the Supercross series, particularly for newcomers Garrett Marchbanks and Chase Sexton.

In the 450SX main event, Marchbanks suffered a hard crash, prompting red cross flags to be waved. Although he managed to return to his bike and finish the race, he was visibly shaken. “I knocked the wind out of myself pretty bad and couldn’t breathe for about two minutes,” Marchbanks reported in Kawasaki’s post-race release.

This race marked a continuation of a tough season for Marchbanks, who did not qualify for the Anaheim 1 main event and missed the San Diego round due to a mid-week crash that resulted in a concussion protocol violation. His results thus far have been 13th, 15th, 13th, and a 22nd place finish in four main events.

Reflecting on the Seattle experience, Marchbanks commented, “I felt like I started to get my flow… After second qualifying, we made a slight adjustment going into the heat race and had a good heat race from it. I was finally able to run up there in that Top 10 area.” Despite his crash, Marchbanks expressed optimism about improving through the season.

Chase Sexton also faced difficulties, although specific race details for him weren’t highlighted in the release. As the team looks to regroup, both riders remain focused on refining their performance and increasing competitiveness in the upcoming races.
