Washougal National Recap: Mosiman and Brown Face Challenges

Washougal, WA – The Washougal National saw Michael Mosiman and Dax Brown facing significant hurdles as they tackled their respective returns from injury in the latest round of the AMA Motocross Championship.

Mosiman, recovering from an ankle injury sustained during qualifying, managed a solid start, finishing 12th in the first moto. However, disaster struck in moto two, where he was bucked off his bike in the second turn, further aggravating his leg issue and resulting in a DNF after just one lap. This led to an overall finish of 18th with scores of 12-40.

“It was a tough day,” Mosiman stated. “I had two great starts, but mistakes in the early laps cost me. I know what needs to happen, and there are positives to take away. I’ll be back next round.”

Brown made his second start of the season after a lengthy recovery from a fractured T5 vertebra. He briefly showed promise with a ninth in combined qualifying times but crashed out in the first moto, finishing 36th and sitting out moto two as a precaution. Yamaha’s post-race release confirmed that he would undergo further evaluation this week.

Wil Hahn, General Manager of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 250 Team, remarked on the races: “Mosiman got off to a great start in Moto 2 before ultimately falling and having to retire early. Dax knows what he needs to work on for Unadilla.”

Brown echoed similar sentiments in his post-race remarks, stating: “I got cross-jumped and hit the deck in Moto 1, and sat out of Moto 2 as a precaution. We haven’t had a lack of adversity, but the goal hasn’t changed."

As both riders look to recover and improve, the focus will shift to the upcoming round at Unadilla, where they aim to capitalize on their potential and overcome the challenges faced this weekend.
