SMX Next – Supercross Qualifying Round: Houston Report
Houston, TX – The SMX Next – Supercross qualifying rounds saw unfortunate incidents during the second session, resulting in the withdrawal of three riders from the main event. Kade Johnson, Kayden Minear, and Landon Gibson all suffered crashes, with Johnson and Minear providing updates on their respective injuries.
Johnson reported sustaining a wrist injury that ultimately prevented him from competing in the main event, after finishing 17th at the previous Anaheim 2 SX. His condition remains uncertain, but he hopes for a minor setback. In a statement shared on social media, he expressed gratitude for the support from his team and sponsors and acknowledged the challenges of withdrawing from a race.
“Pulling off the track is one of the hardest things a racer can do. To be honest, it’s a bummer deal… We’ll regroup and keep moving forward.” – Kade Johnson
Meanwhile, Kayden Minear has also confirmed his absence from the main event due to a separate crash. Updates from Landon Gibson are pending as he has not yet provided information on his condition.
Looking ahead, the next SMX Next – SX qualifying event is scheduled for February 28 at Daytona SX, where competitors will aim to recover from their recent setbacks.
