MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 2025 Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX), sanctioned by the AMA, launched its season at Fox Raceway in Southern California, featuring what is widely acknowledged as the most competitive field of female riders in the series’ history.

In a thrilling opening round, SLR Honda’s Mikayla "Kay Kay" Nielsen secured her first career victory, further showcasing her prowess on home turf. The 18-year-old from Riverside, California, demonstrated exceptional skill in both motos, positioning herself as the early front-runner for the championship with the coveted red plate.

This weekend, the WMX series heads to Prairie City SVRA for the second round on May 30, just 485 miles north. Known for its challenging conditions, the Hangtown Motocross Classic, which has been a staple in American motocross since 1974, promises to test riders with its rough terrain and higher temperatures.

As the championship unfolds, fans can stay updated with live timing and scoring available at Results MX. The stage is set for another intense weekend in the WMX series, with competitors eager to rise to the challenges ahead.
