Star Yamaha Achieves Historic 250SX Podium Sweep in Cleveland
In a significant milestone for the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team, the squad achieved a remarkable podium sweep at the 250SX event held in Cleveland, with riders Jordan Thrasher, Matt Gordon, and Jared Davies finishing in the top three positions. This marks the first time since 2014 that a single team has occupied all three podium spots in the 250SX class, mirroring the achievement of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team.
The last such podium sweep prior to Cleveland occurred at the 2014 Daytona SX, where Blake Baggett, Adam Cianciarulo, and Martin Davalos claimed the honors. The time elapsed between these events is notable—4,428 days or 12 years, 1 month, and 14 days.
Historically, Mitch Payton’s Pro Circuit team has dominated podium sweeps, securing five of the last six in this category. While there have been multiple brand podiums in recent years, the 2026 Cleveland SX marks a resurgence for Yamaha, breaking the Pro Circuit streak.
Following the race, Yamaha’s 250 Team General Manager Wil Hahn expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s kind of surreal. …This was fricken huge.” With three rounds remaining in the season, the focus now shifts to whether the Star Yamaha team can replicate this performance.
As the championship approaches its conclusion, all eyes will be on the Star Yamaha squad to see if they can further solidify their historic season.
