Button Set for Final Race at Fuji
Jenson Button, driver for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA, will make his last professional race start at the Fuji International Speedway this weekend. The event holds significant importance for Button, who has a deep connection with Japan, having raced in Formula One with Honda and clinched the Super GT Championship in 2018.
This WEC race likely marks his final appearance in Japan as he ends his full-time career after this season. Reflecting on his experiences, Button stated, “I will miss racing in Japan… this country has so many passionate fans.” He emphasized the commitment required in the WEC, noting, “Even though there are only eight races, you need to dedicate a lot of time… It consumes you.”

Lexus factory driver Ben Barnicoat returns to the WEC this weekend with AKKODIS ASP, following a mountain biking injury that sidelined him earlier this season. Following a fifth-place finish in practice, Milesi noted, “We have a good car… we can aim high.” He also looked ahead, acknowledging developments for the 2026 season are already underway, which could enhance their performance.
Fan Zone Buzzes with Activity
The fan zone at Fuji features notable cars, including a Peugeot 9X8 and historic Toyota vehicles, engaging fans and enhancing the atmosphere around the race. This weekend’s race marks the 100th event of the FIA WEC, with special commemorative helmets awarded to pole sitters, designed in celebration of this milestone.
Tandy on Standby for Porsche
Nick Tandy is present this weekend as a reserve driver for Porsche Penske Motorsport, ready to step in if needed. If called upon, it would be Tandy’s first WEC start since 2022 with Corvette.
